Records Division


DUTIES:

The Records Division receives, routes, and files criminal and other informational records required by the San Luis Police Department. On a daily basis, Records Division, maintains and prepares police reports, citations and other related duties. Additionally, the Records Division disseminates information to San Luis Police Officers, authorized agencies and the public as authorized and required by rule or law, on a promptly and efficient manner.

RECORDS SERVICES

Police Reports (Including Accident Reports)

To obtain a copy of a police report in person:

To obtain a copy of a police report, you must complete a Public Records Request form. Your request must provide specific information about the incident as well as the reason for the request. A case number will assist us in obtaining your report promptly.

Public Records Request forms are available at the police department.

You may call our business line before coming in to the police department to pick up a report; this will allow you to know if the police report in question is already filed in the Records Section. Our general business telephone is 928.341.2420.

Police Reports are available for pick-up seven (7) days after initial report date.

To obtain a copy of a police report by mail:

You can also request a copy of a report by mail by filling the Public Records Request Form or by submitting a written request. The written request should list the following information: A case number, name of party (ies) involved, date and time of report, location of incident, the purpose for the information requested and a contact number. Also include a money order for $3.00 per copy, made payable to the City of San Luis.

FEES FOR POLICE REPORTS/PHOTOGRAPHS:

Accident Reports/Department Reports: $3.00 Up to 25 pages, additional pages .25 cents each.

Photographs: $0.50 per photo

Photographs on CD's: $10.00 per CD

LOCAL RECORD CHECK

This letter will provide a local search of the San Luis Police Department's files - ONLY, for individuals inquiring. A search of records from other jurisdictions is not conducted; you must contact each agency separately. You may ONLY obtain a Record Check Letter on yourself.
